Canada's Finance Minister Jim Flaherty will announce plans to slash almost 30 million Canadian dollars (24 million U.S. dollars) a year in public funding for federal parties, government officials said Wednesday. Flaherty will make the announcement in his fiscal update Thursday, which is expected to contain measures to counter the current economic difficulty.
